The British luxury organization Walpole is a non-profitable institution and it has always been trying to popularize British luxury brands. Walpole 2009 Awards Ceremony was held on November 16th in Banqueting House in London, personages and companies of all circles including elites from the luxury circle, design field and internet had all been invited.
This year's judges of the "Overseas British Luxury Brand" include Richard Lambert, Sir David Bell, and Pearson / Walpole, the industry experts from CBI; Sally Chatterjee from Visit London; Danny Lopez from the UK Trade & Investment Department; Martin Davidson from the British Council, and Sandie Dawe from the VisitBritain. The judges agreed that Links of London did a very good job in 2009 in terms of improving their enterprise image, and increasing their sales by exporting, extending retail and holding special activity.
Other nominees for "the best overseas British luxury brand" award include Jaguar cars, Hackett, JohnSmedley, Fairline, and Rocco Forte Collection. The award can be described as deserved true winner; the sales of jewelry, watches and gift of this brand increase constantly and expanded new markets in this special time. This year, Links of London opened a new shop in Hawaii and was planning to develop the Asian markets furthermore. This brand expanded very fast by opening more than 60 shops in London, New York, Tokyo, Athens, Dubai and Hong Kong and so on.
The company was founded in 1990 and was purchased by Folli Follie in July of 2006. Andrew Marshall was appointed as the CEO. With the support of Folli Follie Group and under the lead of Andrew, Links of London kept expanding and growing on the international stage. "We are very excited to have this honor; I believe this is the best reputation in luxury brand area. A number of judges joined in the assessment, this award will prove the gratifying progress that Links of London and Folli Follie Group gained through its efforts in 2009.
Design director of this brand, Elizabeth Galton considered that continuous successes depended on the clear location and value of brand which was also very important for the feeling of creation. Links of London hopes it can have a gripping future, in 2010 it will continue to develop new markets and renew their website.
Walpole, as the representative for British luxury industry and the authoritarian in luxury circle, called LV as the international luxury brand. Paul Smith from English well-know fashion brand win the Annually Walpole Award through its excellent performance in fashion line. Besides, The Savile Row Bespoke won the award of the Best Craftwork. And the jewelry dealer Astley Clarke won the award of the Best Brand of Luxury Goods of Britain on the Internet.
Renowned photographer Marino Testino also accessed the Year Award of Walpole because of his hard work and excellent performance in the luxury goods sector. The CEO of Walpole Julia Carrick said that Walpole pays attention to those brands and talents who have contributed to the development of British luxury goods and thanks them for what they have done.
